News of Trysim V4.0
Editing the machine
Several edit masks at the same time
The edit masks of the elements are not modal anymore, this means you can simultaneously open the mask of another element. Furthermore you can search for an operand in the symbol table, a DB or in the PLC program without closing the mask. The same applies for the masks of the drives and the script editor. Soon you do not wand to miss the simplification that is entailed by this.
UnDo
Continually wished for a long time: You can now undo changes to the machine.
Search / Replace
A comfortable search-replace-function makes it easier to adjust used assemblies repeated. Also mistakes made in the occupancy of the operands can be found easier.
Edit masks arranged more clearly
The edit masks are now divided into tabsheets. The input of parameters has been standardized.
Navigation in 2-D graphics
The mouse wheel has now the function as if in a text document. With the middle/mouse wheel button the function is switched to sideways displacements. Thereby interesting plant sections can be found more intuitively. Additionally: Moving single elements with the arrow keys.
Register „Favorites“ at element selection
Frequently used elements can be arranged for fast access in a new register.
List of selected elements
It gives an overview of the selected elements while preparing a multi element edit. You can specifically deselect elements that have been marked by mistake.
Auxiliary coordinates system in switching reference point
Already in version V3.2 the point in the machine to which all coordinates refer to could be placed on each element. Now this point is presented by an auxiliary coordinate system. The positioning of elements with relative information like ‘light barrier 300 mm away of the end of the conveyor’ is simplified a lot.
Presentation of father-child-relationship in the graphic
The point to which an element is fixed to is represented in the graphic by a thin line. Thereby it is also considered to which edge of the father an element is fixed to. Up to V3.2 that point was called ‘fixpoint’, now is has been renamed to ‘anchor’.
Drag and Drop for PLC conntections
Because the edit masks of the elements are not very modal operands from other parts of the project can be drwan to the interface panels with drag and drop. Saves especially for long names a lot of clerical work.
External PLC
Connection to external PLC via ProfiBus
The SIMBA profibus card from Siemens does not simulate a single ProfiBus-Slave, but the complete net. Therefore only minimal changes for the test are necessary in the PLC program because the PLC purely physically does not notice that the machine is only simulated.
Simplification when connecting via MPI / TCP / IP
Now there is a tool to arrange the transfer data in TrySim, which might be rather complex, and to unpack in the PLC subsequently that simplifies this process considerably.
Simplification when connecting to Allen-Bradley RsLogix
In case of this connection the different byte arrangement of TrySim and RsLogix has caused a lot of effort. Now the same UDTs are used on each side and also the assignment of bit operands expends only minimal effort.
Connection to Siemens S7-PLCSIM V5.4
Because of the modified access method this connection functions considerably better than the connection to S7-PLCSIM V5.3.
Simplified connection to IEC 6-1131-3
In preparation. Indeed, the connection to systems like CoDeSys is possible for a long time, but it is rather complex in implementation for the same reasons as to RsLogix. Probably in version V4.1 wie will have made it comfortable.

Internal data management
Conversion to pure symbol addressing
Due to historical reasons TrySim has internally worked with absolute addresses so far. The symbols in the “allocations map” and the declaration part of the building blocks only have been an appendage. Now solely the symbolical name counts. Many nuisances of previous versions are remedied therewith.
Fundamental reconstruction of the internal data management
The visible advantages are:
- Also arrays of structures are possible now
- The presentation of DBs and UDTs is considerably clearer
- Less problems while import STL sources of complex programs
- Easier configuring of the interface to external PLC
Upper/lower case
No distinction is made between upper case and lower case. Operands can be entered in some way, but the display is determined by the spelling in the declaration of the operand.
Constructing the simulation
Fast connection of control elements for rapid prototyping
An enormous advantage of a simulation is the possibility to get insight into otherwise hidden values. This is supported by the tabsheet ‘special’ of the control elements. So you can, for example, tack a digital display with few mouse clicks to a conveyor driven by a frequency converter, which displays the nominal value currently sent from the PLC. Or a new generator for test dynamics at any chosen point is made operational as quick as a flash.
Collection of error messages
So far the start of the simulation has been cancelled at every single error in an element operand. In Version V4.0 at first all mistakes are collected and shown in a list. That makes the troubleshooting much less unpleasant.
Replacement for peek and poke elements
These elements allow the extended access to internal data of other elements. The same functions are now available more comfortably in the scripts of the elements theirselves. Due to compatibility peek and poke still exist, but should not be used anymore for new machines.
Zombie status for temporary not used elements
When often using similar, but not indentical, assemblies single elements can be marked as ‘zombie’. Indeed they are still there and are taken along when copying or depositing in the library, but do not at all have influence on the simulation anymore. A simple example is an elevating platform that has normally only limit switches for ‘top’ and ‘bottom’, but occasionally, although apart from that it has the same design, needs another switch for ‘middle’.
Improvement of the background
The background (arrangement drawing) which simplifies creating a machine extraordinarily has so far reduced the performance during the simulation so much that it was cumbersome even for small tests during the creation. This has become considerably better. But in case of huge machines we still recommend to fade out the backgrounds during the real test.
Align elements
Hereby elements can be aligned to left-/right-justified, upper/lower edge, same distance. Especially useful for creating big desks or to correct carelessly constructed prototypes.

Help in HTML format
Now the help is also displayed without detours with Vista and Win7.
64-bit systems
Because of the new installation program also the installation on 64-bit systems is possible without any problems or detours.
